Kansas City native, born to a poor family, art was my greatest positive coping mechanism I used to turn a dark childhood into a bright future.
Selected twice to attend the fine art portion of The George Caleb Bingham Academy of The Arts, I hopped around four area high schools while in foster care and graduated early in the winter of 2007 from Lee's Summit Senior High. My career choices at the time were between being an art teacher or video game designer. Fast forward after graduating high school and fighting my way out of foster care, I juggled full-time work and college for a short period, but eventually dropped out of school. I then waitressed, cooked, and picked up a third job at a photography studio.
Mike Freeland, with Freeland Photography, needed someone to do grunt work and I had energy to burn and cash to earn. Before I knew it, I was creating proof books, sorting images, and practicing with his camera gear. He taught me the basics and encouraged me to develop my own style, which I have dubbed - Cinematic Portraiture.
Over 150 weddings, hundreds of lifestyle sessions, and countless smiles photographed, my photography has been internationally, nationally, and locally published in magazines, books, and online. Adobe and Canon are my main tools, but my ability to produce is thanks to my studies, discipline by mentors, and my pure ambition.
I believe hard work is the answer to client satisfaction through creating impactful images, delivering a superior product, and offering a comfortable experience. As you browse, please know that your memories will be captured simply beautifully.
